New Providence Police Blotter: Aug. 10-13

The following information was supplied by the New Providence Police Department. Any arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

8-10-11 – Patrolman Andrew Diamond arrested James Burd, 44, of Fairlawn during a motor vehicle stop on Mountain Avenue for an outstanding warrant out of Kenilworth Municipal Court.  Mr. Burd was released after posting bail. 

8-11-11 – Patrols responded to 890 Mountain Ave. on a report of a stolen motor vehicle.  The victim reported that while he was at work, his 2006 Acura RSX was taken from the parking lot.  The vehicle was located on 8-12-11 in Newark and Detectives are investigating this theft.

8-12-11 – Patrols responded to the Community Pool on Springfield Avenue on a report of damage to the security window gates at the snack bar from someone who attempted to forcefully pry open the locked gates.  There was a similar attempt to gain access to the snack bar on 8-3-11.  Detectives responded to the scene to process the attempted burglary and are investigating several leads.

8-12-11 – Patrols reported that someone had caused damage to street signs at the following locations: Springfield Avenue and Gales Drive, Pitney Avenue, Millpond Road, Livingston Avenue, Jane Road and Clinton Avenue.  Anyone who may have witnessed the tampering of the street signs is asked to contact the New Providence Police Department at 908-665-1111.

8-13-11 – Between Aug. 13 and Aug. 15, patrols have taken reports of graffiti at the following locations:  New Providence High School parking lot, Balcom Road, Oakwood Park and behind a business on Springfield Avenue.  The graffiti appears to be juvenile in nature.  The detective bureau is investigating these reports.
