New Providence Police Blotter: Aug. 21 - Sept. 4

The following was supplied by the New Providence Police Department. Any arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

08-21-2012 — Patrolman Andrew Diamond charged Manual R. Buri, age 42, of Orange with operating a vehicle while his license was suspended after his vehicle was stopped for failing to have a name and municipality on a commercial vehicle.  The company was charged with the commercial motor vehicle offense.

08-22-2012 — Patrolman Andrew Diamond charged Alreema Vining, age 25, of Hillside with operating a vehicle while her license was suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle after a random license plate inquiry revealed the license suspension.

08-24-2012 — Patrolman Michael Hand arrested Gregory Little, age 29, of Stroudsburg, PA with driving while intoxicated after he was found in the driver’s seat of his vehicle trespassing on private property.  Mr. Little was found in a parking lot of Mountain Avenue with the engine of his vehicle running.  Patrolman Hand determined that Mr. Little was intoxicated and placed Mr. Little under arrest.  He was released to a responsible party pending a court date.

08-26-2012 — Corporal Chad Wilson charged Suzy Miranda, age 31, of Berkeley Heights with operating a vehicle while her license was suspended after her vehicle was stopped for speeding. 

08-29-2012 — A resident of Summit advised that one of the borough pools was draining a white silt into the stream behind the pool.  Approximately 300 feet of the stream had turned white from the spill.  Patrols responded along with the Detective Bureau, Fire Department, and Union County HAZMAT.  The Department of Environmental Protection and Health Department were also notified. HAZMAT tested the substance, which came back positive for a low level of chlorine.  The pool was given a warning for the spill due to the fact that it was a first offense and the chlorine levels were low.  HAZMAT indicated that there was no environmental hazard at this time.

08-30-2012 — Patrolman Andrew Diamond issued three solicitors working for Power Windows and Siding summons for the borough ordinance violation of soliciting without a permit.  Patrolman Diamond issued Daniel Byrnes, age 22, of Cranford; Issam Sudah, age 26, of Franklin Park; and Igor Shprekher, age 25, of Somerset for the violations.

08-31-2012 — Patrolman Joseph Parlapiano charged Luis Saiteros, age 40, of Belleville with operating a vehicle while his license was suspended after his commercial vehicle was stopped for not having a name, municipality, or phone number posted on the vehicle.  The company, Georges & Sons GNR Construction, was issued for the commercial motor vehicle violation. 

08-31-2012 — Patrolman Michael Scuorzo arrested Julian Perez, age 27, of Scotch Plains on an active warrant out of Scotch Plains after his vehicle was stopped after a random license plate inquiry revealed the warrant.  Mr. Perez was also charged with operating a vehicle while his license was suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle.  He was released after posting the bail.

09-03-2012 — A resident of Possum Way reported that his vehicle was burglarized sometime between 3 p.m. on Sept. 1 and 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 3. The victim indicated that his vehicle was rummaged through but nothing was taken.  The crime is under investigation by the New Providence Detective Bureau.

09-04-2012 — A resident of Sulfrain Road reported that his vehicle was burglarized between 9 p.m. on Sept. 3 and 7:45 a.m. on Sept 4.  The victim indicated that his owner’s manual and BMW tool case was missing.  The crime is under investigation by the Detective Bureau.
