New Providence Police Blotter: Mar. 31 - Apr. 4

The NPPD recently made arrests on outstanding warrants, and responded to a fire on Runnymede Parkway, two car accidents, and an underground oil tank leak.

3-31-2011 – Sergeant Frank Gaffney arrested Renato Gallosa, 36, of Elizabeth for an outstanding warrant out of Saddle River.  Mr. Gallosa was stopped for motor vehicle violations on Springfield Avenue.  He was released after posting bail.

3-31-2011 – Patrolman Andrew Diamond arrested Yvonne Bazile, 40, of North Plainfield on an outstanding warrant out of New Providence.  She was released after posting bail.

4-1-2011 – Patrolman Andrew Diamond arrested Steven Rodriguez, 28, of Philadelphia, PA, on an outstanding warrant out of Woodbine.  Mr. Rodriguez was originally stopped for motor vehicle violations on Mountain Avenue.  He was released after posting bail.

4-1-2011 – Patrols responded to a South Street business on a report of an individual running out of the store with merchandise without paying for it.  The suspect is described as a male wearing jeans and a blue colored hooded sweatshirt with white sleeves.

4-1-2011 – Patrols responded to a business on Springfield Avenue on a report of juveniles setting a fire to a garbage can out side the store.

4-2-2011 – Patrols responded to a residence on Mountain Avenue on a report of a vehicle striking a fence.  No injuries were reported.

4-2-2011 – A resident reported that while her vehicle was parked on Valentine Road, her vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle causing damage to the driver’s side.  The detective bureau is investigating this report.

4-3-2011 – Patrolman Michael Hand arrested Antonio Paparatto, 22, of Union for driving while intoxicated.  Patrolman Hand located Mr. Paparatto hunched over in the driver’s seat of his vehicle on Pearl Street.  Mr. Paparatto’s vehicle had become disabled from an apparent motor vehicle crash causing one of his front tires to become flat.  Mr. Paparatto was released to a family member with a pending court date.

4-3-2011 – Patrolman Diamond arrested Carlos Estrella, 34, of Irvington on outstanding warrants out of Irvington and Newark.  Mr. Estrella was originally stopped on Mountain Avenue for motor vehicle violations.

4-3-2011 –The New Providence Police and the New Providence Fire Department responded to a on Runnymede Parkway.  The where the resident was burning wood to the surrounding structure of the residence.  The fire was quickly extinguished by the fire department.  Fire departments from Berkeley Heights, Chatham Township and Chatham Borough responded to the scene to assist.  Fire departments from Mountainside, Springfield and Kenilworth responded to the New Providence Fire House to cover.  There were no reported injuries to the occupants of the residents or fire department members that responded.

4-4-2011 – The Union County Hazmat Team, New Providence Police and Fire Department responded to a residence on Birch Place on a report of an underground oil tank that had a leak and the oil had surfaced.  The leak was contained and the Emergency Response Team from the Department of Environmental Protection responded to the site for an emergency clean up.
