New Providence Police Blotter: March 8 - 19

The following information was supplied by the New Providence Police Department. Any arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

3-8-2012 – Patrolman Michael Scuorzo charged Susan Masiak, 23, of Bloomfield with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license on South Street.  She was also charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

3-11-2012 – Sergeant Robert Carroll charged Geoffrey Ruppert, 43, of New Providence with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license on Central Avenue.  He was also charged with operating an uninsured and unregistered motor vehicle.    

3-14-2012 – Patrolman Andrew Diamond arrested Cory Rottjer, 19, of West Orange with the possession of a substance believed to be marijuana.  The charges stem from Patrolman Diamond checking an occupied, suspicious, vehicle in the parking lot of 851 Springfield Avenue.

3-14-2012- Corporal Opalewski arrested Alexander Emposimato, 27, of New Providence on an outstanding warrant out of Morris Township Municipal Court.

3-16-2012 – Detective Donald Sretenovic charged Courtney Braun, 45, of Chatham, NJ with theft of services.  The charges stem from an investigation revealing that she had cancelled a check that was given to an individual she had hired to perform a service for her.

3-17-2012 – Patrolman Michael Scuorzo arrested Rayen Millahaul, 45, of Plainfield on an outstanding warrant out of Union Township Municipal Court.  The arrest stems from an equipment violation on Diamond Hill Road. 

3-17-2012 – The New Providence Fire Department, Police Department and Rescue Squad responded to a reported house fire on Pittsford Way at 2:58 AM that started in the garage of the home.  The fire was quickly extinguished.  No injuries were reported and it is believed to have started from an electrical problem.  Fire Departments from Berkeley Heights, Scotch Plains, Mountainside and Fanwood also responded to assist. 

3-19-2012 – A resident reported that while her vehicle was parked in the Murray Hill Train Station parking lot, her vehicle was entered and her EZPASS transmitter was stolen from the interior of the vehicle.  The detective bureau is investigating this report.
