New Providence Police Blotter: May 12 - May 29

The following arrest information was supplied by the New Providence Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

5-12-11 – A resident of Brook Road reported that a group of juveniles had stolen a lawn ornament from her property at approximately 12:25 a.m.

5-15-11 – Patrols located a large amount of graffiti in Veteran’s Park on South Street and on a concrete spill way off of Livingston Avenue.  Several male juvenile suspects have been identified in the investigation and have been responsible for previous acts of graffiti in the Borough.  Charges are pending for these juveniles.

5-16-11 – Patrolman Chad Wilson arrested Alex Minyetty, 31, of North Arlington on an outstanding warrant out of Lyndhurst Municipal Court.  Mr. Minyetty was originally stopped for motor vehicle violations and was issued several summonses.

5-17-11 – A resident of Hickson Drive reported that a 2005 Honda CBR that he had listed for sale on Craiglist was stolen from his driveway sometime between 5-12-2011 and 5-17-2011.  The detective bureau is investigating the case. 

5-19-11 – Patrolman Joseph Diparisi arrested Kesha Peterson, 34, of Harrisburg, PA on an outstanding warrant from Springfield Municipal Court.  She was originally stopped for speeding on South Street.

5-20-11 –  Two juvenile females and two juvenile males were taken into custody after separate incidents behind the New Providence High School after an officer observed them consuming alcoholic beverages. The juveniles were released to a parent.

5-20-11 – Officers observed two female juveniles and one male juvenile in a wooded area of Veteran’s Park, smoking a controlled dangerous substance believed to be marijuana.  The three juveniles were taken into custody and released to their parents.  Charges are pending.

5-21-11 – An officer observed an intoxicated juvenile male on South Street stumbling and was taken into custody.  He was released to a parent.  Charges are pending.

5-21-11 – An officer observed an intoxicated juvenile female on South Street and was taken into custody and released to an adult.  Charges are pending.

5-25-11 – A Springfield Avenue business reported that an unknown individual left the store with a shopping cart full of Similac baby formula without paying.  Store employees followed the individual as he fled the parking lot in an older model Saab with no license plates.  The detective bureau is investigating the case.

5-25-11 – Officers located graffiti in the parking lot of Oakwood Park.  Anyone with information about the graffiti is asked to contact the New Providence Police at 908-665-1111.

5-28-11 – Patrolman DiParisi arrested Jessie Velez, 38, of Bronx, New York for an outstanding warrant from Wildwood Municipal Court.  Mr. Velez was originally stopped for motor vehicle violations.  He was also issued a summons for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

5-29-11 – Patrols responded to 851 Springfield Avenue Spring Garden Apartments, on a reported burglary.  The resident reported that while she was sleeping between the 9 and 9:30 p.m., someone had entered her apartment and was standing in her bedroom doorway.  As she attempted to turn her lights on, the individual left.  The resident believed that the individual may have entered through an unsecured window.  Nothing is reported missing from the apartment at this time.  No other similar incidents were reported the same night.  The detective bureau is investigating the incident. 

5-29-11 – A business on Springfield Avenue reported that an individual stole magazines from a display in the store.  An employee confronted him and he left the store.  The individual has been identified through the store's surveillance footage and charges were brought by Detective Donald Sretenovic against Jonathan Medford, age 22 of New Providence, for Shoplifting.

5-29-11 – Two bicycles were reported stolen from the Patriot Village on Division Avenue.  Residents are reminded to secure their bicycles.

5-29-11 – A resident of First Street reported that eggs were thrown at his vehicle and his residence.  He also reported that his neighbor’s car was also egged.
