New Providence Police Blotter: Sept. 28 - Oct. 12

The following arrest information was supplied by the New Providence Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

09-28-2011 — Patrolman Michael Scuorzo charged Zachary Bence, age 23, of Wayne with driving while suspended after a random license plate inquiry revealed the suspension.

10-01-2011 — A borough resident reported her car was burglarized while dining at a restaurant in town.  A laptop was taken and the theft investigation has been turned over to the Detective Bureau.

10-03-2011 — A resident of Passaic Street reported fraudulent charges to his debit card after he gave his credit card number out to an unknown caller.  The caller told the resident that he had won a $100.00 gift certificate and that he needed a credit card number to cover the shipping and handling.  The resident observed fraudulent charges to that card and cancelled the account.  The fraud is under investigation by the Detective Bureau.

10-04-2011 — A student at a borough school reported his iPod Touch, cash, and gift card were stolen from a gym locker.  The theft is under investigation.

10-06-2011 — Patrolman Bryce Garrison charged Angel Veras, age 20, of Perth Amboy with driving while suspended, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, and for failure to inspect the vehicle.  Mr. Veras was stopped for the inspection violation.

10-08-2011 — A resident of Murray Hill Square reported that there was an attempted burglary to his vehicle.  The suspect did not gain access to the vehicle.  The crime is being investigated by the Detective Bureau.

10-10-2011 — Patrolman Andrew Diamond charged Flavio E. DaSilva, age 43, of Newark with operating a suspended vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle, and for being an unlicensed driver.  The vehicle was stopped after a random license plate inquiry revealed the suspension.

10-11-11 — A Clinton Avenue resident reported the theft of their "Union Jack" (British Flag) from the front of their residence. This matter is under investigation by the Detective Bureau.

10-12-2011 — Patrolman Andrew Diamond arrested Douglas Presley Jr., age 32, of Newark on an outstanding warrant out of East Orange.  Mr. Presley was also issued a summons for driving while suspended and failure to signal a turn.  The vehicle was stopped for the moving violation.  Mr. Presley was released after satisfying the warrant.

10-12-2011 — Patrolman Andrew Diamond charged Jessy J. Rivera, age 30, of Elizabeth with driving while suspended after his vehicle was stopped for failing to maintain the lamps on the vehicle and failing to inspect the vehicle.

10-12-2011 — Patrolman Andrew Diamond charged Christopher M. Pokorney, age 34, of Manasquan with operating a vehicle with a suspended registration and for operating an uninsured vehicle.  The vehicle was stopped after a random registration inquiry revealed the suspension.

10-12-2011 — Corporal Dennis Carovillano arrested Richard L. Parks, age 50, of Irvington on an outstanding warrant out of South Orange.  The vehicle was stopped for maintenance of lamps.  Mr. Parks was released pending a court date in South Orange.
