New Providence Police Respond to Altercation on Springfield Avenue

Two residents reported that they were assaulted by two males known to them, according to police.

Two New Providence residents were allegedly assaulted by two individuals on Friday, Dec. 28.

New Providence Police responded to the altercation on Springfield Avenue, which was reported by numerous passing motorists and witnesses at the scene, who broke up the altercation, according to a press release from the New Providence Police Department.

When officers arrived, a 17-year-old female resident and an 18-year-old male resident said they were assaulted by two males they know, who left the scene in a motor vehicle, according to the release.

The motor vehicle that dropped the assailants off fled the scene, according to the release, and this report is now under investigation.
