No Injuries in MVA at South Street, Central Avenue in New Providence

Accident involving three vehicles occurred around 3 p.m. today, caused traffic delays along both roads for less than one hour.

An accident involving three motor vehicles occurred around 3 p.m. today at the intersection of South Street and Central Avenue in New Providence. Officials at the scene said there were no injuries.

Based on the police report collected at the scene, New Providence Deputy Chief Scott Torre said one of the three cars involved was traveling northbound on South Street, turning left onto Central Avenue. An oncoming car, traveling southbound on South Street, was also turning left onto Central Avenue when the collision occurred.

"The second car, which was traveling south on South Street, was then pushed into a third vehicle, which was staged at the light," Torre said in an email.

No summonses were issues at this time, Torre said.

The accident did cause traffic delays along South Street and Central Avenue for less than one hour.

One vehicle involved in the accident, a black Jeep, appeared to sustain some damage and was being loaded onto a tow truck around 3:45 p.m.

It appeared that the bumper of another vehicle, a Honda Pilot, was also damaged in the accident.

Officials were leaving the scene around 3:50 p.m.
