One Injury Reported From Motor Vehicle Accident in New Providence

Injured driver transported to hospital. Two out of three vehicles were seriously damaged. Road closed on South Street, traffic diverted down Southgate Road, Ethan Drive.

One driver was injured in an accident involving three motor vehicles that occurred around 7:55 a.m. today on South Street between Southgate and Ethan Drive in New Providence.

Two cars were seriously damaged and the injured driver was transported to a nearby hospital, said New Providence Police Sgt. Frank Gaffney. The extent of the driver’s injuries are not known at this time.

Patch arrived at the scene around 8:30 a.m. Two of the three vehicles involved in the accident were still at the scene and both were being loaded onto tow trucks. One car was missing two tires and had damage to the front end, while a Jeep was missing one tire and appeared to also have damage to the front end.

Traffic was still being diverted down Ethan Drive and Southgate Road around 8:45 a.m. At that time, two cars were already taken away from the scene, while the Jeep was loaded on a tow truck and ready to be transported.
