Pennsylvania Man Killed in Route 78 Crash After Hitting Snowbank

Two-car crash occurred at 2:05 p.m. Sunday in Springfield.

An Easton, Pennsylvania man was killed Sunday afternoon after the car he was driving on Route 78 in Springfield Township was rear-ended, causing him to crash into a snowbank, NJ State Police spokesman Sgt. Adam Grossman said.

Raymond McAdams, 50, was traveling eastbound in the middle lane when his 2003 Toyota Corolla was struck from behind by a 2008 Toyota Sienna driven by Ariel Cifuentes.

Cifuentes told police McAdams' car slowed down or stopped and he was unable to avoid hitting him, Grossman said.

McAdams' car traveled across the right lane and shoulder before crashing into a snowbank, causing severe head injuries. McAdams was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Cifuentes suffered back injuries.

The accident remains under investigation, Grossman said.
