Police Handle Reports of Burglaries, Graffiti in Borough

Safe at American Legion pried open, home on Mountain Avenue ransacked. Anyone with information about burglaries can contact New Providence Police Department.

Between Aug. 19 and Aug. 22, there were two reports of burglaries and one act of graffiti in New Providence.

Several pieces of park equipment were damaged by graffiti at and sometime during the night of Aug. 19.

On Aug. 20, Patrols and Detectives responded to the on Elkwood Avenue on the report of a burglary.

Members reported that an exterior door was pried open. Once entry was gained, a locked office door and a safe was pried open. Detectives are investigating the report.

Patrols and Detectives also responded to a reported burglary to a residence on Mountain Avenue on Aug. 22.

Upon arrival, patrols observed a pane of glass broken out from the window.  The bedrooms of the home were ransacked with jewelry, money and several other valuables taken. 

Detectives have been investigating several leads that they have received.
