Burglar Leaves Wallet at Scene of Crime, New Providence Police Say

A New Providence man crawled on his hands and knees into a business to steal from its cash register, but left his wallet behind, police told the Alternative Press. 

Ryan Kitson, 24, of the borough was charged Aug. 27 with burglary and theft after $270 was stolen from the cash register of a South Street business, police said.

Surveillance video showed Kitson enter the shop on his hands and knees at 6:15 a.m. while an accomplice distracted the single employee who was there at the time, police told the Alternative Press.

Kitson allegedly left a large clue for police: his wallet. Authorities told the Alternative Press that the wallet was next to the cash register he stole from, and it contained his identification. 

Police have not yet identified Kitson’s accomplice.
