Road Rage Incident in Berkeley Heights Leads to Arrest

Edison man arrested for throwing punch and making threats.

Here is the Berkeley Heights police blotter through November 9.

On Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 5:31 pm, Ptl. Nicholas Franks arrested Joel
Rosa, 24, of Edison. Officers responded to the area of Briarwood Dr. West area to investigate a report of an assault. The investigation revealed that Rosa was driving on Briarwood Dr. West, when a local resident yelled at him to slow down. Rosa then parked his vehicle, walked on to the resident’s property, threatened him and then struck him with a closed fist. Rosa then left the scene and was located a short distance away by officers. Rosa was placed under arrest, brought to police headquarters and charged with simple assault and 3rd degree terroristic threats. Bail was set at $1,500.00 and Rosa was given a court date to appear in Union County Superior Court. He was then released after posting bail.

On Sunday, November 6, 2011, Ptl. Nicholas Franks investigated a reported theft
of a motorcycle from a Circle View Dr. residence. The victim reported that his 2011 Yamaha, valued at $14,200.00 was stolen from in front of his residence between 2 p.m.and 3 p.m. All information was obtained and the vehicle was entered into the NCIC system as a stolen motor vehicle. The matter has been referred to the Investigations Division.
