Scotch Plains Woman Critical in Mountainside Car Accident

The 47-year-old woman's car left Route 22 and crashed into a tree shortly before 10:20 p.m.

A Scotch Plains woman was critically injured when her car ran off Route 22 in Mountainside last night and hit a tree.

Carol Ganczewski, age 47, crashed her 2007 Toyota Camry shortly before 10:20 p.m. Wednesday night and was trapped in the vehicle, according to the Mountainside Police Department. She was traveling eastbound on 22 shortly before Parkway street (not the GSP).

The Mountainside Fire Department extricated Ganczewski from the vehicle. She was then flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Newark where she is currently listed as in critical condition.

The Mountainside Police Department serious accident investigation unit is currently investigating the circumstances of the accident and ask that anyone who may have witnessed the accident contact Detective Thomas Norton at 908-232-8100 x230.
