Victim Tracks Down Alleged Hit-and-Run Driver

New Providence woman faces several charges, including leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

The victim of a hit-and-run accident helped lead New Providence Police to the driver accused of running into her vehicle and driving away last Sunday, according to police.

Township resident Victoria Pukas, 55, drove into the rear of a vehicle stopped at a red light on Passaic Street—and then took off, driving around the victim's car onto South Street, according to police.

After Pukas fled the scene, the victim followed her to a residence on Diane Court, police said. The victim contacted police and said Pukas refused to answer her door, according to the report.
