Woman Struck and Killed at Landmark
Authorities say a 79-year-old woman was hit by her own car in the Landmark's parking lot Saturday evening.
A 79-year-old woman was apparently struck and killed by her own car this evening outside the Landmark on Mount Pleasant Avenue.
According to Katherine Carter of the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, the woman, who was later identified as Sally A. Simmons of Livingston, forgot to put her car in park. The vehicle, an Acura, then rolled back over her as she walked behind it. Simmons was fatally injured as a result.
Authorities said Simmons was going to the , a popular pub and restaurant, to find out about the availability for an event, Carter said.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office was called in for accident investigation. The accident occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. The Landmark is located at 259 West Mt. Pleasant Ave., near the Route 10 circle. Authorities blocked off the street during the investigation.

A man who answered the phone at the pub said the manager was outside talking to police and was not available for comment.
