$400K Liquor Consumption License Finds No Bidders

Got a spare $400,000? A retail liquor consumption license can be yours in New Providence.

No one seems to want to buy a liquor license in New Providence. For two straight years, a $400,000 retail liquor consumption license hasn't had anyone who wanted to bid on it, according to a report in TheAlternativePress.com.

Councilman Dr. Bob Robinson said he thought the minimum $400K bid might be too high or there may be a lack of a suitable downtown location for a restaurant in which the license would be used, TheAlternativePress.com report said.

Mayor J. Brooke Hern said the governing body wasn't desperate to sell the license, and that they were looking to use it as an economic development tool for the borough, the report said.
