The Township Council voted to remove Township Administrator Amey Upchurch from her post at tonight's meeting, effective immediately. As the motion was made without citing cause, the Township will have to pay Upchurch 3 months' worth of her salary - a minimum of $30,250 ($121,000 divided by 4 ). This does not include any pay from unused vacation or sick time, which would increase the amount owed if it exists. I should note that no official explanation was given for Upchurch's removal, and that Mayor Bruno stated his opposition to the Council's action. The vote was 5-0 in favor, with Councilwoman Kingsley absent. The resolution to remove Upchurch was included as a separate item on tonight's agenda, and had not (to my knowledge) been added as of yesterday evening.
