NJ Should Legalize Marijuana, Union County Lawmaker Says

State Sen. Nicholas Scutari wants to state to follow in the footsteps of Colorado and Washington.

One Union County lawmaker thinks it's time for the state to say "yes" to legalizing marijuana and is sponsoring legislation that would authorize facilities to grow and sell pot in New Jersey.

State Sen. Nicholas Scutari (D-Union) said last week that regulating the sale and possession of recreational marijuana in the state would hamper the illegal drug market and create a new source of tax revenue, according to a report on NJ.com

The legislation is slated to be introduced within the next month and faces strong opposition, including the governor who has objected to the expansion of the state's medical marijuana laws.
