NP Council Agenda Includes Dispatch Center Bond Ordinance
Tentative New Providence Council agenda also includes bond ordinance for storm water run-off repair work, authorizing bidding for Oakwood Drive re-pavement project, and filling Library Board vacancy.
Borough Council will convene Monday at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers in the New Providence Municipal Center.
While a formal agenda hasn’t been posted on the borough’s website yet, Borough Clerk Wendi Barry told Patch the tentative agenda includes a bond ordinance to bring the City of Summit’s $350,000 contribution for the Shared Dispatch Center project into the borough’s budget.
In addition, there is another bond ordinance on the tentative agenda that would authorize storm water run-off repair work, which was discussed at the June 24 council meeting. If approved, $800,000 will be allocated for the necessary repairs and later reimbursed by FEMA, Barry said.

Another tentative agenda item includes the authorization to bid for the re-paving of Oakwood Drive. Barry said the borough recently received a state grant to fund this project.
Barry said other possible agenda items include: resolutions to bring grant funds into the borough’s budget; an annual resolution that modifies the Community Development Block Grant agreement with Union County; appoint an individual to fill a vacancy on the Library Board, and approve routine purchase orders.
