Applications for New Providence Preschool Program Are Now Available

Applications must be received by Jan. 17, 2013. Multiple sections of preschool classes are available for three- and four-year-old children. Lottery will take place Jan. 18 at 1 p.m.

The New Providence School District is currently accepting applications for the 2013-2014 Preschool Program.  

Applicants must be residents of New Providence at the time of the lottery drawing and have birth dates between Oct. 2, 2008 and Oct. 1, 2010.  Regular education students will be selected for this program by lottery.  Special education students will also be included in the Preschool Program as determined by the District Child Study Team.

All applications must be submitted to the Department of Special Services, New Providence Board of Education by Jan. 17, 2013.  The drawing will be held on Jan. 18 at 1 p.m., at the office of Special Services.  Parents will be notified if their child is accepted into the program.

There will be multiple sections of preschool classes, which will include both three and four year old children.  Classes will meet five days per week from 8:40 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. for the morning session or from 11:50 a.m. – 2:20 p.m. for the afternoon sessions.  We are unable to accept requests for morning or afternoon sessions.  

Applications are available at the Board of Education Office, 356 Elkwood Ave., or on the district website at http://www.npsd.k12.nj.us/.  A birth certificate and proof of residency will be required for those students admitted to the program. Admission to the class is only valid for one school year, and a tuition fee of $265 per month will be charged.

Upon notification of acceptance into the program, parents will be asked to submit a deposit consisting of the first month’s tuition in order to reserve a spot in the program.
