Berkeley Heights BOE Starts New Year with Reorganization Meeting

Board Appoints New President, Announces Changes to Upcoming Events

The Berkeley Heights Board of Education held its annual reorganization meeting on Thursday, May 5th. John Sincaglia was appointed Board President and Dr. Gerard Crisonino was appointed Board Vice President. Board member Doug Reinstein was also nominated for both positions.

“I am comforted by the fact that I am serving with two former board presidents,” said BOE President Sincaglia, after being elected to his new position on the board. Sincaglia also addressed the Berkeley Heights community and the recent approval of the school budget. “I thank the voters of Berkeley Heights for voting wisely.”

“It was very much a relief once we saw the budget numbers and we thank the community of Berkeley Heights for doing what is best for the students,” said Superintendent Judith Rattner, echoing Sincaglia’s sentiments.

Rattner also announced changes to the district’s Teacher of the Year events. Jacqueline Conti-Rimshnick, Eli Quinonez, Joanne Barton, Carla Pastore, Diane Corley, and Doreen Ladinski will be honored on Thursday, May 12th at an afternoon program held at Governor Livingston High School at 3:30 p.m. and at an evening reception held during the board meeting at Columbia Middle School at 7:30 p.m. to congratulate the award recipients.

An additional change to the Columbia Middle School graduation ceremony was also announced. The ceremony will be pushed back to later in the day due to difficulty with the originally-scheduled time and will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Governor Livingston High School on Monday, June 20th.
