Berkeley Heights Student Performs With New Jersey Youth Symphony

Golda Och Academy 8th grader Joshua Bochner of Berkeley Heights will perform with the New Jersey Youth Symphony’s Percussion Ensemble Nov. 1 at Ithaca College.

The event at Ithaca College includes a master class presentation that will end with a performance of Three Brothers by Michael Colgrass. The Ensemble will then perform a full concert of percussion masterpieces at Ithaca’s Ford Hall.

Bochner has been with NJYS since 2009. He performs with the NJYS Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble and the Governor Livingston Highlander Marching Band in Berkeley Heights. Bochner has also been playing classical guitar since age 5.

“Joshua is a wonderful musician and student,” Dr. Kenneth Piascik, NJYS Percussion Director, said. “He is very dedicated and talented in his percussion studies.  His sense of humor and great spirit add so much to the percussion ensemble.  Joshua is very serious about his music. He is respected in all the groups as a leader and mentor. I am very honored to be one of his teachers.”
