Students new to the New Providence district or who have never been fingerprinted can take advantage of a voluntary fingerprinting program in the schools on Oct. 22.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office will fingerprint eligible students (in grades kindergarten through eight) at Salt Brook School at 9:30 a.m. and Allen W. Roberts at 1 p.m, according to the Alternative Press.
Preschoolers, accompanied by a parent or guardian, are invited to participate at either Allen W. Roberts or Salt Brook Elementary School.
Fingerprint cards are provided by the sheriff’s office. Children who are participating must have the card signed by a parent or guardian at the time of fingerprinting. The fingerprints will be placed on the back of the fingerprint cards and will be sent home with the students.
Fingerprinting cards can be obtained from the main office at either Allen W. Roberts Elementary School or Salt Brook School. No record of any kind will be kept.
