GL Wrestling Team Caps Season With Conference Championship

Team earned 22-3 record, Coach Iacono reached 300th victory

 

wrestlers Senior Zach Heissler (182 lbs.) and Junior Jonathan Mele (113 lbs.) recently celebrated the end of their season with Coach Rick Iacono at the Region 3 Coaches Association Awards Banquet.

Both wrestlers qualified for the State Wrestling Tournament in Atlantic City this year and helped their team capture the 1st Union County Conference Watchung Division Championship.

Coach Iacono earned his 300th career victory during the season and the team finished with the school’s best record of 22-3. 

Looking back on his wrestling career, Heissler expressed his gratitude for “having been coached by such a committed man” and for “having such supportive teammates.”

As a graduating senior, Heissler also expressed his appreciation for his team.

“You couldn’t find another group of people in the world with the same level of respect and companionship for one another as the 2011-12 Governor Livingston wrestling team.”
