Baseball
GL 11, Rahway 0: Keith Skinner knocked in five runs and picked up a homer in the big win.
GL 13, Elizabeth 3: The Highlanders smacked four home runs in the win over Elizabeth (Aaron Smith (2), Joey Graziano, Keith Skinner).
GL 12, Johnson 3: Etahn Frohman struck out five in six innings of work and picked up the win over Johnson.
GL 7, Cranford 6: Keith Skinner's blast drove in Billy Worswick for the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth for the win after Cranford's four-run seventh inning had sent the game to extras.
GL 16, Union 6: Aaron Smith picked up a home run and 4 RBI in the win.
GL 8, SPF 7: The Highlanders withstood a late SPF rally that saw them pull from 8-4 to 8-7 and held on for the 8-7 victory. Ryan Jennings, Keith Skinner and Aaron Smith each had 2 RBI.
GL 9, Oratory 0: Billy Worswick struck out eight in six innings of work and picked up the W.
GL 13, Elizabeth 2: Joey Graziano picked up the win and also hit a three-run home run in the Highlanders' season opening win.
Softball
GL 12, SPF 2: Carolynne Goldbeck drove in five RBI and Jenna Kulback picked up four in the UCT win over SPF.
GL 7, Cranford 2: Kelly Goense picked up two RBI in the win over Cranford.
GL 14, SPF 0: Kelly Goense picked up a home run and three RBI in the big win over the Raiders.
GL 11, Parsippany 1: Kacie Worswick totaled six RBI and a home run in the Highlanders' big win to stay undefeated this season.
GL 6, Rahway 4: Starter Jordan Robbins struck out nine in seven innings of work.
GL 11, Elizabeth 6: Stephanie Caltado and Jessie Merone each hit a home run to help keep the Highalnders unbeaten.
GL 9, Westfield 6: Summary: Inning 4: Westfield's Chrissy Ferraro led off with a single, Cali Chambliss bunt singled, Julia Criscuolo singled in Chrissy, Sarah Seitz singled in Chambliss. (score 2-1 Westfield) Inning 5: GL's Goldbeck led off with a triple to left, Fetter singled her in, Beisser hit a two RBI double. (score 4-2 GL)Inning 5: Westfield's Aditi Jain led off with a double to right, Chrissy moved Aditi to 3B, then Cali Chambliss sac fly ( score 4-3 GL) Inning 7: GL Fetter walked, Frank advanced the runner, Murphy hit an RBI single, Beisser hit an RBI single, Cataldo singled, Kulback hit a three-run HR (score 9-3 GL) Inning 7: With twoouts, Westfield's Ferraro singled, Chambliss singled and Schaefer hit a three-run HR.
GL 11, SPF 4: Paige Murphy hit two home runs in GL's season opening win over SPF.
Boys Lacrosse
GL 9, Boonton 2: Andrew Bobcheck picked up three goals and an assist in a win against out-of-conference foe Boonton.
Johnson 14, GL 9: Andrew Bobcheck had four goals and three assists in the loss to Johnson.
GL 12, Nutley 2: Alex Lipnick scored four goals and picked up two assists while Joe Pozniak scooped up 14 groundballs in the win over Nutley.
GL 15, Union City 0: Jamie Montalvo scored three goals and goalie Zach Boyer (3 saves) and the GL defense turned in a shutout against Union City.
GL 10, SPF 9: John Hutton picked up 10 groundballs and Joe Pozniak picked up nine. Jamie Montalvo led the way with four goals in the tight win.
GL 15, Newark East Side 0: Alex Lipnick picked up four goals and two assists in the win over East Side. Jamie Montalvo also added three goals.
GL 8, Old Bridge 7: John Hutton scooped up 13 groundballs in the win over Old Bridge.
GL 12, Verona 5: Alex Lipnick scored four goals and five assists in the win over Verona.
GL 10, Newark Academy 7: Joe Pozniak picked up 12 groundballs in the win for the Highlanders.
Girls Lacrosse
GL 16, Boonton 4: The Highlanders were once again led by Stephanie Pinto who scored four goals and assisted on three in the win over Boonton.
Caldwell 14, GL 9: Stephanie Pinto scored three goals and Sam Dowling added two in the loss.
4/20-Stephanie Pinto is currently 9th in the state for scoring with 46 goals and 6 assists.
GL 12, NP 9: Stephanie Pinto led the way with five goals in the win for the Highlanders. Jennifer French added four.
GL 15, Mo Beard 14: Stephanie Pinto scored six goals in the overtime win over Mo-Beard
Columbia 16, GL 3: Goalie Alex Martin made 11 saves in the loss.
-The Highlanders have gotten off to a hot start with 32 goals in their first two games.
