One of the issues we will be discussing is the November Election Option.  I have outlined this bill below and there is also a link to Frequently Asked Questions and sample board resolutions.  Please take some time to review this information in preparation for our meeting. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

Sincerely,

November Elections Option

Bill number S-3148, recently passed by the state Legislature and signed by Governor Christie, gives the local school district the option to move school board member elections from April to November, while eliminating the annual vote on proposed school budgets that are at or below the state’s 2 percent tax cap levy.

There are three options to make this move:

  1. A resolution by the local board of education.
  2. A resolution by the municipal governing body.
  3. Voter referendum through a petition signed by at least 15 percent of voters who participated in the previous general election for president and vice-president of the United States.
