PTA Held Pancake Breakfast at Deerfield Elementary on Jan. 26

The pancake breakfast was filled with activities and games, followed by a basketball game.

The following information was provided by the PTA.

It was a busy day at Deerfield Elementary in Mountainside on Saturday, Januray 26.  First there was the annual PTA Pancake Breakfast with food, fun, music, and prizes.  The school cafeteria was turned over to the PTA volunteers flipping pancakes for the community.  Annie Basile and Vicki Kosuda were the PTA chairs of the event.  With some help, they managed to feed well over a hundred people and give away some prizes.

There was a "Guess how many?" game with candy jars filled tasty treats.  The DJ had a limbo line going and some lucky ticket winners left with toys or restaurant gift certificates to Publick House and Anna's in Summit.  It was a community event with donations generously provided by many community businesses.

While some were enjoying the pancakes, the basketball teams were playing in the gym and the PTA was selling 50/50 tickets to the Spring Fund Raiser, Ready, Set...Auction! on March 21 at L'Affaire.  For the first time the PTA is hosting a live auction at the event and selling separate 50/50 tickets where the winner need not be present for the drawing.  Despite the threat of snow the night before - always a potential threat to the PTA Pancake Breakfast, the event was a success!   Left overs from the event were donated to St. Joseph's Social Services Center in Elizabeth.
