School Budgets Pass in Berkeley Heights, Mountainside, BOE Results Are In

Incumbents win in Berkeley Heights. One upset in Mountainside.

The results are in and both Berkeley Heights and Mountainside passed their school budgets.

Voters in Berkeley Heights overwhelmingly voted in favor of passing the budget 1432-884, just one year after saying no.

Mountainside voters had a much closer tally, passing the budget 591-395.

Berkeley Heights BOE president Paul Beisser (1414 votes) and Gerard Crisonino (1311 votes), both incumbents, defeated challenger Ronald Davison (678 votes) for the two three-year terms up for grabs.

In Mountainside, Board of Education incumbent Cathy Jakositz (582 votes) secured a seat again, while challenger Dante Gioia (575 votes) edged incumbent Maureen Hess to earn a three-year term.

In the closest result of the night, Carolyn Williams defeated Jeane Parker 457-447 for the BOE seat for the one-year term in Mountainside.
