School District Taking Pre-School Applications

The lottery drawing will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at 10:00 a.m.

The Berkeley Heights School District will be accepting applications in January for its Preschool Program for the 2012-2013 school year.

To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Berkeley Heights Township and have birth dates between October 2, 2007, and October 1, 2009.  General education students will be selected for this program by lottery.  The lottery drawing will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Mary Kay McMillin Early Childhood Center.  Applicants do not need to be present to be eligible for admission to the program.  Special education students will also be included in the Preschool Program as determined by the District Child Study Team.

Each Preschool class will include both 3- and 4-year old children.  Classes will meet four days per week, Monday through Thursday, from 8:45 to 11:15 a.m. for the morning session or from 12:10 to 2:40 p.m. for the afternoon session.

Applications may be obtained in person from the school office of Mary Kay McMillin Early Childhood Center, 651 Mountain Avenue, or by calling the school office at (908) 464-5583.  The application deadline is January 20, 2012.  A birth certificate and proof of residency will be required along with a non-refundable deposit of $100 for those students admitted to the program.  This deposit will be applied to the first month’s tuition.  A tuition fee of $320 per month will be charged for participation in this program during the 2012-2013 school year.  For more information, please call Mary Kay McMillin Early Childhood Center at (908) 464-5583.
