Teachers, Students Will Be Honored At Tonight's Board of Education Meeting

Superintendent Miceli will present the four Teachers of the Year with Golden Apples, while some students will receive Certificates of Excellence.

The Board of Education is set to meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the High School/Middle School Media Center.

On the agenda is a report from Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Miceli, who will present Golden Apples for the Union County Teacher Recognition Program. Those teachers include John Russo at the New Providence High School, Eileen Mondino at the New Providence Middle School, Marcia Wan Veer at Allen W. Roberts School and Jaclyn Kaufmann at Salt Brook School.

Miceli will also give an update on district enrollment, end of the year events, Class of 2011 college acceptances, and new staff for 2011. Student Representative will also be on hand to give his final student report, as he is graduating in June.

Other items on the agenda include a presentation of Certificates of Excellence by Board Member Adam Smith, Salt Brook's recent recognition as a National School of Character, and a resolution in recognition of Board Member Robert C. Lucid, who served on the Board of Education for the last nine years in a number of capacities, most recently as Board President.

There are also a number of action items on the agenda under Finance, Facilities, Education, Personnel, and Board Policy, followed by Committee Reports.
