Swimming Star Abby Pires Commits to Lehigh

Gov. Livingston captain signs letter of intent.

Governor Livingston High School has added another student to their growing list of outstanding athletes ready to continue their sports careers in college.

Abby Pires, a senior and captain of the Lady Highlanders swim team, recently signed her commitment to attend and swim for Lehigh University next year.

The Mountainside resident will be a four-year letter winner for GL and already holds the high school record in the 100 Breast.

Pires captured the 2010 and 2011 Union County Champion in the 100 Breast. Just as impressive, is the fact that Pires has qualified for the Meet of Champions all three years in the 100 Breast.

Pires also swims for the Westfield YMCA and has been swimming competitively with them since the age of ten.
