Bluefire Soccer Team Wins Championship

Flight 3 winners finish with impressive 7-2-1 record.

 

It came down to the final game of the fall season, but the Berkeley Heights Bluefire delivered in a big way with the championship on the line, when they defeated Hillsborough 3-0 to clinch the flight.

The Bluefire girls' soccer team are part of the Berkeley Heights Youth Soccer Club Travel program and play at the U12 level and represent the top team for Berkeley Heights at this age level.

This fall, the Bluefire played at Flight 3 in the Mid NJ Youth Soccer League and won their flight outright with a record of 7 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie while scoring  22 goals while giving up only 6.

Based on their play in the fall, the squad will move up to play in Flight 2 in the spring season.

The team was formed in 2007 and half of the girls have been playing together since then, with the other half having joined the team through the annual tryout process that takes place.

Members of the team are: Stacey Berliner, Sarah Polizzi, Annabella Hernandez, Maura Hager, Sarah Bachert, Clare Gallic, Anna Pasquale, Caroline Peer, Gopna Shekaran, Sarah Lalevee, Ava Delargy, Ashley Escheverry, Maggie Zecca, Emily Dolan, and Colleen McAloon.

The team is coached by head coach Raj Shekaran, and assistants Dave Pasquale, Mike Polizzi and Andy Peer.
