Boys Fencing Team Faces # 1 Columbia Today

GL boys' and girls' fencers both ranked in top 10 in state.

 

The Gov. Livingston boys' Fencing team, ranked # 6 in the state, will have their much-awaited showdown with # 1 Columbia High School Thursday night at Columbia Middle School in Berkeley Heights.

The Columbia girls' squad is ranked # 2 in the state, facing a Gov. Livingston girls' team that holds the # 7 ranking.

The Highlanders program, started six years ago under the guidance of head coach Vincent Paragano, just recently earned their 200th win.

Both teams are already off to strong starts, boasting 8 wins each.

Thursday's contest begins at 5:30 and continues a big week for the Highlander fencers. They are also in a statewide tournament this Saturday (the Cetrulo Boys Championships), where they hold the #1 seed along with Columbia.
