New Providence Memorial Day Parade

New Providence, NJ (May 23, 2012).

New Providence American Legion Post 433 and the New Providence Recreation Commission have announced plans for this year’s Memorial Day Parade. The parade, on Monday, May 28, 2012, will begin at 10 am, regardless of the weather, at Springfield and Central Avenues. Post 433 and the Recreation Commission have co-sponsored the town’s Memorial Day Parade for approximately sixty years. The parade, as always, is in memory of those who have so loyally served their country in the armed forces.

The American Legion Post 433, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 190, New Providence High School Marching Band, New Providence Borough ’s officials, Police Department and its Honor Guard, the Fire Department, and many other local civic organizations will march along the mile-long route ending at the Veterans’ Memorial Library. The parade will pause for memorial services at the Methodist and  Presbyterian churches to conduct brief memorial services in honor of our town’s deceased veterans. Immediately following the parade, the public may view the Legion’s “Military Memorabilia Display” at its Post Home, next to the library.
