GL Baseball Falls to Cranford in UCT Final; Girls Softball Advances to Title Game

The Gov. Livingston baseball team was hoping their ride to glory in the county tournament would in celebrating a championship, but the reigning champs had other ideas.

Cranford, the top seed, defeated the Highlanders 14-1 at Kean University this afternoon to wrap up their second straight crown and their 8th in the last 14 years.

GL (17-5) is now 0-3 in county championship games was making their first appearance in the final since 2007.

They remain a favorite to win a Group 2 state title.

Meanwhile, the GL girls varsity softball squad advanced to the county final with a 10-0 victory over New Providence.

Jenna Kulback, Kelly Goense and Bari Grossman each tallied two hits for the Lady Highlanders. Pitcher Jordan Robbins earned the victory.

GL (20-2) will face Westfield in the final, a team they have defeated twice this season. A win would give the highlanders their first UCT crown since 2001.
