Gov. Livingston Boys Soccer Loses For First Time

Delaware Valley defeats Highlanders 3-2 in final minutes.

It's never easy for any team -- at any level -- to run off a nine-game winning streak to start the season.

With each victory, the pressure mounts, along with the expectations. The Gov. Livingston boys' varsity soccer team has handled it all well, and with the Union County Tournament on the horizon, Monday's game versus Delaware Valley was a key non-conference tuneup.

Despite a great start with GL going up 2-0 very early in the contest, a talented Del Val squad battled back to tie the game -- all within first 12 minutes.

the game stayed tied until late in the game, when Del Val scored with five minutes left, holding on for a 3-2 victory while ending the Highlanders impressive streak.

Torbin Halvorsen scored off Jeramey Robbins free kick first for GL, before Robbins himself delivered on a penalty kick after a handball in box.

The loss drops GL to 9-1 on the season, while Delaware Valley improves to 9-1.
