New Providence Native Helps Muhlenberg Football Earn Postseason Berth

Andrew Tullo, a junior defensive lineman from New Providence, was an asset to the Muhlenberg College football team during the 2012 season.

Allentown, Pa. – Junior defensive lineman Andrew Tullo (New Providence) helped the Muhlenberg College football team to a postseason berth in 2012.

Tullo started every game for Muhlenberg, beginning the season as nose tackle and then switching to defensive end for the last seven games. He totaled 30 tackles for the year and had a fumble recovery in a 61-21 rout of Dickinson.

Tullo received the coaches’ award as a “Dig In,” or unsung contributor, for his role in a 33-0 blanking of McDaniel.

Tullo was a key to a Muhlenberg defense allowed a total of just 186 rushing yards on 131 carries in the final four games of the regular season.

Muhlenberg finished its 2012 campaign with an 8-3 record overall, its best since 2008, and a 7-2 record in the CC, good for second place in the conference behind No. 15 Johns Hopkins.

The Mules received a postseason berth to play in the aforementioned ECAC South Atlantic Bowl, where they fell to Delaware Valley, 24-21.
