Pioneers Roll to 3-0 With Blowout Over Dayton

Governor Livingston notches first win of season over Warren Hills.

The New Providence football Pioneers were an offensive juggernaut Friday night, scoring 24 points in the first quarter en route to a 51-0 blowout over Jonathan Dayton. The victory improves the team's record to 3-0.

Nearby, the Governor Livingston Highlanders soared to their first victory of the season, outscoring Warren Hills 32-13, according to the Alternative Press. 

New Providence defensive lineman Mimmo Coppola set the tone for the romp on the very first play of the game, returning an interception for a score. The Pioneers' played shut-out defense, as well, allowing only one first down in the first half.

The Highlanders also had a torrid first half and headed into the break up 23-0 en route to their 32-13 victory to improve to 1-2.

New Providence tries to remain perfect at 1 p.m. Saturday when the Pioneers travel to Pingry, while Governor Livingston hosts Rahway at 2 p.m. Saturday.
