Pioneers Run Over Belvidere, Improve to 2-0

Voorhees downs Governor Livingston; Highlanders start season in 0-2 hole.

The New Providence High School Pioneers are off to a fast start to the 2013 season, improving to 2-0 after a decisive win over Belvidere Friday night.

Governor Livingston's Highlanders have started the season without much success, however, as they fell to 0-2 with a loss to Voorhees Friday night.

The Pioneers C.J. Kliesch scored three touchdowns in the 34-7 win, rushing for two and hauling in a pass from quarterback Jack Harvey for a third. Pioneer Jeff Doran provided the balance of the team's scoring, crossing the end zone twice on passes from Harvey, according to the Alternative Press.

Meanwhile, the Highlanders got two rushing touchdowns from Ryan Jennings but it wasn't nearly enough, as Governor Livingston fell to a 1-1 Voorhees team 31-14.

New Providence and Governor Livingston both return home next Friday at 7 p.m., with the Pioneers hosting Jonathan Dayton and Highlanders welcoming Warren Hills.
