COACH’S COMMENT:  "Jeramey plays offensive midfield and creates numerous opportunities for his teammates. He reads the game real well. Younger players look up to him. He is not as vocal as some but his leadership is just as effective." – Coach Bruno Somma

KEYS TO THE 2011 SEASON: “There have been many keys to the success of our season. The main keys have been the strong play of right back Torben Halvorsen, and forward Julian Light. Torben has been remarkable at right back when he has to defend and when he comes forward to help us out on offense. Julian was injured for the majority of the season but when he came back, he gave us a different dimension in which we can play”.

THE GL DEFENSE: The defense is made up of Junior Michael Bamundo Sweeper who plays alongside Junior outside Backs Max Dooley and Torben Halvorsen, and Senior Stopper Kyle Morris, who along with Senior Keeper Jon Robbins have had 10 clean sheets so far.

"We have a very strong defense this year, which is key for any team. A good defense is key for winning games you can’t always rely on the offense to keep scoring. We have a very physical sweeper Michael Bamundo. As well as two strong wing backs who added an extra man in offense as well as doing their defensive duties. We have a solid Stopper who also adds a lot to the offense.”

NO PANIC IN FALLING BEHIND:  GL has found itself behind repeatedly during this season but has come back again and again to get their 18 wins.  The key?

"We never give up. No one on the team likes to lose. We have confidence in ourselves that we can compete with and beat any team we play. It’s an 80 minute game anything can happen.”

SIGNATURE "POISE" GAME:  GL rallied from a 2-0 deficit on September 22 to beat Westfield.

"That was important victory for us. It showed us that we can compete and play with any team as well as also showing us that we had something special here. We could be the first team in 17 years to win something.”

TEAM CHEMISTRY:  “Several players on this GL team played for seven years together on the Berkeley Heights Bulldogs. Even though I didn’t play on this team alongside my teammates today I feel like I blend in as if I did play with them on the Berkeley Heights Bulldogs.”

COLLEGE PLANS:  “I’ve received offers from Mount Saint Mary’s College, Rutgers Camden, Merchant Marine, Goucher, Millersvile and East Stroudsburg and Arcadia. I have not committed anywhere yet. I still have more college showcases to go to.”

ACADEMIC GOALS:  “I want to pursue a career in Physical Therapy.

PREPARE FOR NEXT LEVEL:  "I have to finish more chances that come my way. I tend to get too excited in front of goal sometimes.”

STRENGTH OF HIS GAME:  His speed and ability to go 1v1 with his opponents are key to his success; also his vision to pick out the right passes to get his teammates a chance to get in on goal. He is also a physical player when he needs to be.

SOCCER BACKGROUND:  Robbins grew up in Union where he played travel soccer for 5 years before moving to Berkeley Heights. He went on to Match Fit Chelsea Academy where he played there for 6 years before moving on to his current team Jersey United.

CLUB TEAM:  Jersey United

OTHER SPORTS: Only soccer.

OTHER INTERESTS:  "Music, snowboarding and Surfing.”

HIGH SCHOOL CAREER:  Started as a Freshman on Varsity. And was voted Captain in his Senior year.

The team is 18-1-1 this season. Won their conference for the first time in 17 years and received the Top Seed in their section for states. Best moments in his high school career when he was a freshman and took a penalty in a shoot-out against top seeded Westfield in the County Quarter Finals when they shocked the top seed to make it to the County Semi’s.  Currently ranked #17 in the State in Star Ledger Top 20.

TEAM PEAKING:  "I think our peak was when we beat Westfield. We didn’t know how good we were and they were a good test for us. We then went on to win our next four games. We then lost to Delaware Valley, a section rival, 3-2. It was a bad loss not because it ended our winning streak but the manner in which we lost the game sticks with us. We gave up 2 very soft goals.”

BEST SOCCER ADVICE: “Always have confidence in yourself and don’t let anything ever intimidate you. Whether it’s the team you’re playing or the player you’re marking, always be confident in yourself.”
