Fireworks Return to South Street July 3

New Providence celebrates the July 4th holiday a day early.

The New Providence Independence Day Celebration returns to the borough 
Wednesday, July 3.

Entertainment and fun activities will be available along South Street from Gales Drive to Springfield Avenue, culminating with the annual fireworks display at about 9:30 p.m.

Borough spokesperson Cindy Reis said the celebration will feature more activities than ever before, including:

  • DJ John Souren of Club Souren will spin tunes from atop the NP Fuel 'Jets' truck
  • Performances by juggler Will Shaw
  • "Chalk on South” will give kids of all ages free chalk to create art and messages on the street.  

Residents are encoraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the festivities.

In case of inclement weather, the event will take place Friday, July 5, at the same time and place.
