Hundreds Attend 'Summit to the Shore' Concert

Event benefits the NJ Firefighter's Mutual Benevolent Association's Sandy Ground Project.

Hundreds of New Jersey residents hit the Village Green Tuesday night for the "Summit to the Shore" concert, which benefits the NJ Firefighter's Mutual Benevolent Association's Sandy Ground Project.

This project will build 26 playgrounds in cities ravaged by Sandy in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, and each one will be dedicated to a victim of the Newtown, Ct. school shootings.

The concert event kicked off at 7 p.m. Judith Josephs, Director of Summit Community Programs, introduced Summit's Mayor Ellen Dickson, Summit Councilman Robert Rubino and NJ FMBA President Bill Lavin before Parrotbeach, a Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band, took to the stage.

Concertgoers enjoyed free ice cream and water from Investors Bank, which sponsored this concert along with Overlook Medical Center, and were able to purchase refreshments and food from Lizzmonade and Pizza Vita.

Investors Bank CEO Kevin Cummings said the bank will donate $5,000 to the Sandy Ground Project if that same amount were raised during the concert. The final total raised was not available Tuesday night.
