New Providence Memorial Day Parade Set for Monday

This is the 60th year for the borough's annual parade.

Come rain or shine, New Providence has set its Memorial Day Parade for Monday.

American Legion Post No. 433, in cooperation with the borough has sponsored the town’s annual Memorial Day parade for over sixty years, according to New Providence website.

The parade, which begins at 10 a.m., will march along Springfield Avenue from Central Avenue to Academy Street. The parade will pause at the United Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church for Memorial Services, including an honor guard salute and taps played at each location.

The parade will end at the Veteran’s Memorial adjacent to the New Providence Memorial Library, where remarks by Mayor J. Brooke Hern and Commanders of both the American Legion and the VFW Post will conclude the formal events of the day.
