Blue Thunder Wins State Cup Championship!
The Berkeley Heights Blue Thunder U15 Girls win their second NJ State Cup Championship in 3 years.
The Berkeley Heights Blue Thunder U15 girls soccer team won the 2013 New Jersey Youth Soccer State Cup Championship with a 3 – 2 victory in the Finals.
The team was undefeated in the single elimination tournament, played over a two month period. The Blue Thunder scored wins over US Parma, Vernon, Jackson and NLSA in their quest for the championship. This was the team’s second state level championship in three years.
The Blue Thunder offensive efforts resulted in 14 goals throughout the tournament with scoring led by Lindsay DiStaso, Jacqueline Goldbeck, Lexi Everton and Lexi Lobaina.

Coordinating the attack at midfield were Kristen Splaine, Amanda Bostwick, Rachel Siegel, Avery Bolton, Tori Mellusi and
Isabella Biserna.
The defensive unit shut down opponents and let up only 5 goals during the tournament led by Alice Caballero, Vanessa Candeloro, Grace Tesoro, Kate McAloon, Sara Azalone, Caitlyn Splaine and Kelly Deegan. Stellar goalkeeping was provided by Olivia Emanuel who had a shutout and several game saving stops during the team’s championship run.

Dave DiStaso is the head coach, ably assisted by Brian Deegan, Michael Emanuel and Dave Siegel. The team is trained by Bart-Jan Overmaat of DTS New Jersey and Annette Emanuel is the team manager.
