Berkeley Heights Volunteer Wanted to Coach 'Girls on the Run'

Group practices twice a week at Columbia Park.

Girls on the Run of New Jersey East is looking for a volunteer running coach in Berkeley Heights.

Volunteers must be 18 or older and available to coach one to two days a week. Practice takes place from 4 to 5:15 p.m. Wednesdays and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturdays in Columbia Park.

Coaches are provided with training, a comprehensive curriculum, and teaching materials that are being used by Girls on the Run in communities around the nation. Coaches come from a wide variety of backgrounds: mothers, teachers, guidance counselors and other community members who value health and physical fitness.

Coaches lead lessons in empowerment, healthy decision-making, gossiping, bullying, friendship, trustworthiness, body image, media influence, setting goals and self-confidence.
