Lions Club EXPO Ready to Fundraise and Raise Fun

Annual event set for June 15-18 at the municipal field next to the library on Mountain Boulevard.

With nearly all the sponsorship spots filled and the rides scheduled, the Warren Lions Club is nearly set for its 46th annual EXPO, slated for June 15-18 in the municipal field next to the library.

Visitors can joi the fun from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. each night. On June 18, the EXPO finishes with a flourish, with fireworks at 10 p.m. Attendees can also enjoy discounted rides wristbands on Wednesday and Saturday.

The annual fundraising carnival draws as many as 10,000, and helps support the club's scholarships for Watchung Hills Regional High School students, as well as Little League, senior center and summer recreation programs the club sponsors.

"We also use a large portion of the funds raised for sight and hearing programs throughout the state of New Jersey," Lions Club member Anthony Franchini said, adding the Lions Clubs also support the Boys and Girls State programs, as well as many other local organizations.

Pulling off what Franchini describes as "the largest event in Warren Township" isn't easy for the 56 members of the Lions Club, but the group does have experience running the show, which began just 17 years after the club's 1948 founding.

But more help is always welcome.

"The Warren Lions Club ... is always looking for civic-minded local men and women to join as members," Franchini said.
