Mountainside Junior Girl Scouts Help Habitat for Humanity

Scouts serve lunch to volunteers.

On Saturday, December 10th, 5th Grade Junior Girl Scouts, representing Mountainside Troops 40443 & 40468, visited a home construction site for the Plainfield Area Habitat for Humanity in Plainfield.  The girls brought and served lunch to the 15 volunteers working during an “Adopt A Day” build sponsored by Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Mountainside.

Rev. Jeremy Montgomery, Director of the Plainfield Area Habitat for Humanity, gave the girls a tour of the site and explained to them how a “Habitat” home comes to be.  This particular home in Plainfield is being built for a family who has lived in public housing all their lives.  The family has worked hundreds of hours on the home and will be moving in to their new house in 2012.
