NJ Sharing Network Foundation to Participate in “Donor's Rock” Ride

On Saturday, July 16, “Donor’s Rock” Ride comes to New Jersey as event founder David Landsberg President and Founder of the Society for Organ Donor Awareness (S.O.D.A) will take his bicycle to the streets to spread the message about the need for increasing registered organ, eye and tissue donors.

This summer Mr. Landsberg will ride his bicycle a total of 50 miles in all 50 states, within 50 days. Partnering with Donate Life America, his journey will begin in Austin, Texas on July 4 and on July 16th he will embark on another leg of his journey in Stirling, New Jersey riding with others. The mission: to educate individuals and raise awareness about the need for more organ donors, registering new donors in every state. All 50 rides are open to the general public and attendees are invited to participate in each ride, the last of which concludes in Oklahoma City on August 23.

The ride has never been done before by any cyclist, let alone by a kidney transplant recipient.  “I try to live every day like I am earning the right to have this kidney and honor someone else who gave it to me,” said David Landsberg. “A six-year old boy lost his life, and his parents were so gracious to give me a second chance at mine. I am always grateful for an opportunity to share my story and become an inspiration to others looking for hope.”

NJ Sharing Network volunteer, David Bird, will be riding alongside of Mr. Landsberg. An avid cyclist and liver recipient himself, he hopes to further advocacy about the importance of organ donation.

The public is welcome at the “Donor’s Rock” Ride on Saturday, July 16 in Stirling. The ride will commence at 7AM at the ride start location, High Gear Cyclery, 393 Main Avenue, Stirling, NJ. Registration is not required for this event.

“It is an extension of our mission to come alongside of families near and far in support of such awareness campaigns that further the importance of organ donation. NJ Sharing Network will have a table at the event for those in attendance to register to be an organ donor.
