Americans across the country are reacting with shock to the devastation caused by a 2-mile wide Tornado in Oklahoma. Dozens have died, and President Obama has declared the path of the tornado a major disaster area. If you would like to help, you can do so from your computer or mobile device right now. Patch will be posting stories of locals who are working to help victims from afar. Students extend Earth Day celebration.
The following is a press release from Christopher Academy: Students and faculty at Christopher Academy, the Montessori School, extended their celebration of Earth Day last week with special classroom programs at both the Westfield and Scotch Plains campuses. During the classroom presentations all the Christopher Academy students received a visit from Mike from Let’s Bloom Together. Summit attorney and former Republican Freeholder candidate Andrew Smith will address the League of Women Voters tonight at the New Providence Library. The meeting is open to the public.
Andrew Smith, a Summit resident, attorney, and former Republican candidate for the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, has a few things to say about how county government is run. He'll be talking about that and other topics tonight, May 20, at the New Providence Library, in a special series entitled "Union County - It's a Big Deal" that's being sponsored by the League of Women Voters (LWV).
